Wayne Dyer 125x125If you have followed me online for any length of time at all you will know that my life and my business are run from a place of mind ~ body ~ spirit.  Recently I had the opportunity to attend the screening of Dr. Wayne Dyer’s new movie “Ambition to Meaning: Finding Your Life’s Purpose” and posted that in my blog on January 9, 2009. I am hoping that you have had a chance to see this movie or have ordered it on DVD.

The movie features Dr. Wayne Dyer being interviewed by a film crew at a rustic resort on the California Monterey Peninsula while fictional stories revolve around him, all interconnected and providing similar morals.  Dr. Dyer explains how people identify their lives by their jobs, their possessions and what people think of them. “Before you know it, we begin to identify ourselves with the possessions we have,” Dyer explains. “The dilemma here is that if you are what you have, and things go away, then who you are also goes away in the process.”

This can be especially difficult during economic downturns or other times of personal financial stress.  “The real purpose of life is just to be happy, to enjoy your life, to get a place where you’re not always trying to get someplace else,” Dyer says. People spend their lives struggling, trying to be someplace that they’re not. They never get to arrive.”

Dr. Dyer believes that we all come from a source, and that this source is everywhere. If we align to this source we will find what is missing in our lives and our true purpose. I agree.

One of the most commonly asked questions of me these days, is “how do I keep myself healthy and centered during such stressful times?” There are many things that you can, and should do to keep your body and spirit healthy. I suggest that you meditate at least once a day, eat light healthy foods, drink plenty of water, get regular exercise, stop watching the news and stay in touch with your source. I also suggest a spiritual and physical detox to cleanse your body of built up toxins. When your body feels lighter and refreshed, your mind is much clearer.

Spring is just around the corner and many of us are anticipating spending time this summer on the beach with family and friends. This means that it is probably time to dig out last year’s swimsuit and find out just where you really are weight wise. You want to be ready for all of those great summer parties and activities.

I personally find that early spring is a perfect time for a spiritual and physical detox as I tend to get a little sluggish and out of sync after all the heavy foods of the winter holidays. It is much too easy to fall into poor eating habits during the holidays and after. By doing your detox prepatory to beginning a new fitness and healthier eating program you will cleanse and nourish your body from the inside out by removing and eliminating toxins. Essentially, a detox cleans the blood by removing impurities from the blood in the liver where toxins are processed for elmination.  You will also eliminate toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin.  Imagine how good you feel after all of these toxins have been removed from your body!

Once you have successfully cleaned out your system and raised your energy levels, you will find that it is much easier to make your food choices more carefully and consciously. You will not want to re-visit that sluggish, tired-all-the-time feeling. 

Fitness Magazine recently conducted a study that indicates slim woman consumed their meals more slowly than their overweight counterparts and use the following 3 tricks (they have turned into habits) to stay slim and healthy while eating in restaurants or at parties.

  • Scout it out before you dig in. Take a leisurely trip around the buffet table before you decide what you really want to eat. It is too easy to simply get in line and put a little of this and a little of that on your plate. By scouting it out, you will know exactly what you want and what is best for your body.
  • Use a salad plate. Research shows that people take 22% less food when they use smaller dishes.
  • Sit as far away as possible from the food. We tend to eat with our eyes first. If you don’t see it, you are unlikely to have to have it. If you are not looking at the dessert section of the buffet/barbeque/picnic you will have time to enjoy and savor the food that you already have on your plate and recognize when you are replete.

If you start to notice things aren’t “working out,” ask yourself if you are trying to force things vs. seeing an alternative way. We need to learn to trust our divine guidance “The is no order of difficulty in miracles.” – Course in Miracles.

At every moment there are infinite possibilities. If you try to control what happens, you block the infinite choices in front of you in every moment. If you have set your vision, but it seems to be taking a long time to take form remember this… “The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” – Price Pritchard.

Ask yourself these powerful questions…

1. What am I doing?
2. What works?
3. What doesn’t?

Things you don’t like – turn into habits. It’s not that successful people don’t have things in their life they don’t like to do. But, they turn them into habits.

Have you ever been frustrated with your weight and blamed it on bad genes?

Although Mom and Dad gave you your DNA, they also gave you something even more powerful – your beliefs and fears.

Most of your beliefs and fears were formed by age 5. Whatever was going on around you became your truth and you were taking it all in with no discernment to reject anything.

As you continue to hold onto them, they continue to create your reality. If you ever want to know what your dominate thoughts are look at the results in your life.

If you don’t like something in your life, then you have to change your thinking. That all starts with releasing what’s not true and creating a new belief.

If you are not happy with your weight now, look back at the point you started becoming overweight. What events were happening around you?

Fat is stored out of fear and a need for protection. Your fear may be a cover for hidden anger or resistance to forgive. You also may be storing fat as a way of running away from feelings, insecurity, self-rejection or need to seek fulfillment.

Do any of these triggers come to mind?

Your fat is serving you right now and unless you release the “need” for it, you will continue to hold onto it, no matter what exercise you do.

How do you release the need?

You can release it through affirmations, a counselor, a healing center or my preference, a spiritual detox.

Many people have heard of a physical detox, where you clear the toxins out of the body. Those are great, but they only address the symptoms. A spiritual detox can be done from the comfort of your home and provides you the guidance to release “the cause” of you holding onto extra weight, negative emotions. By releasing these stored emotions, you not only lose weight, feel lighter and more energized, but you can finally create vibrant health and release self-defeating behaviors.
