In addition to leading my session on Saturday, I had the opportunity to hear other world class speakers including Marianne Williamson, Bob Proctor, Michael Beckwith and Mary Morrissey, and I wanted to share some of my biggest takeaways and ahas from the weekend:You cannot “make it happen.” Surrender to the divine flow. If you start to notice things aren’t “working out,” ask yourself if you are trying to force things vs. seeing an alternative way. We need to learn to trust our divine guidance “The is no order of difficulty in miracles.” – Course in Miracles.

At every moment there are infinite possibilities. If you try to control what happens, you block the infinite choices in front of you in every moment. If you have set your vision, but it seems to be taking a long time to take form remember this… “The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.” – Price Pritchard.

Ask yourself these powerful questions…

1. What am I doing?
2. What works?
3. What doesn’t?

Things you don’t like – turn into habits. It’s not that successful people don’t have things in their life they don’t like to do. But, they turn them into habits.

Did you set a goal to lose weight as your New Years Resolution? You may have set your goal grudgingly knowing your several failed attempts in the past.

The good news is your solution to reaching your health goal may be easier than you think.

Many times in the past you may have tried a restricted food program or exercise to lose weight. You may have even joined a gym or hired a trainer.

Although these are great steps, they only address the “symptoms” of you being overweight, not “the cause.”

Fat is stored out of fear and a need for protection. Your fear may be a cover for hidden anger or resistance to forgive. You also may be storing fat as a way of running away from feelings, insecurity, self-rejection or need to seek fulfillment.

Look back at the point you started becoming overweight. What events were happening around you? Do any of these triggers come to mind?

Your fat is serving you right now and unless you release the “need” for it, you will continue to hold onto it, no matter what exercise you do.

How do you release the need?

First of all, determining what the need is. Then, you can release it through affirmations, a counselor or other healing center. I personally have seen tremendous success with spiritual detoxes.

Burning Bowl CeremonyTonight I’m headed to what’s known as a Burning Bowl Ceremony.  During the ceremony, you get a piece of flash paper on which you write down what you want to release.  Then, you light that piece of paper on fire and put it in a special bowl.  This signifies letting go of whatever it is that doesn’t serve you, so you can move into the New Year with a fresh start.

The New Year is a perfect chance to set a new goal.  However, just setting a goal and using willpower isn’t enough.

You have deeply ingrained habits or thoughts, feeling and actions that have created every result in your life. If you want to know what you’ve been thinking and emotionalizing, just look at your current results.

If there is something you don’t like, you can’t just will to change it.  Most people try that, which is why 99% of New Years Resolutions fail.

It’s important to change the source of your results…YOU!

How do you do that?

The first step in achieving a new goal is releasing something in you that is blocking it from coming to you. What belief, feeling, emotion, thought or action are you willing to let go to allow for something greater.

If you’ve been struggling with your weight or despite all of your efforts, you don’t see any change in your body’s shape; ask yourself, what needs to change in you.

Are you thinking negative thoughts all the time?  Are you eating foods that don’t support you?  Do you skip your exercise?

What are you willing to let go and release.  Past failures, negative thoughts, blaming, hurt.

Then, write them all down.

If you don’t have a fire or can’t burn the piece of paper safely, then rip it up and throw it away.  Make the commitment to yourself to let it go.  Then, when your mind wants to bring it up next year, tell yourself you have let that go.

It may sound simple, but it’s very powerful.  Don’t allow yourself to go another year rehearsing past patterns that don’t serve you.  Let them go and make room for a stronger, healthier more vibrant you.

Here’s to releasing that which doesn’t serve you and creating an amazing 2009!!
