All the talk nowadays is how great the holidays are and isn’t it so great to be around family and isn’t this the best time of year.

What about talking about the really crappy parts of this time of year…

Fighting through the crowds at the mall, travel delays, hanging out with family you prefer not to, traffic, having to make a bunch of food you shouldn’t be eating, stressing out and doing so much for others when it’s supposed to be a time of rest. Plus, for some people it can be the loneliest time of year.

So why aren’t we talking more about that?

It’s because our whole life we have been taught to look for the positive and only let people see that side of you. I’m a strong believer in what you focus on you create more of. So, I definitely see the benefit in focusing on the positive side.

However, when you fail to acknowledge those parts of you or things you don’t like, you actually create more of them. These suppressed feelings, if it’s not expressed, can show up as extra weight or some other thing you prefer not to have in your life.

So, for instance, if you look back on 2008 and there are things that happened that just make you mad (even though you say you should be over them), it’s important to release them or you’ll carry that over to next year. It’s important not to just say, “that’s ok, I’ll be better next year!” Rather, it’s important to acknowledge all those things that made you upset or hurt, so you can go through a process of releasing.

You can just jump up and down and say 2009 will be great and you’ll just forget your pain from the previous year. Or you can release it, so you don’t end up re-creating it next year.

All the results you have in your life are the outward reflection of how you feel on the inside. So, if there is something in the “outside” you don’t like, it reflects something inside of you that is expressing.

The good news is that you can release it!

We are coming into the final week of the year. During that time, I’m going to take you through a process of releasing, so you can let go of those things that don’t serve you and truly make 2009 your best year ever.

Enjoy your holidays and peace and love to you!

Welcome to the new Fitness Jeanie website and Happy Thanksgiving week to everyone!

As we celebrate Thanksgiving week, no one wants to hear from their trainer. I mean, who wants to think about calorie counting at a time like this.

I know you’re expecting to hear cut your calories in half or go for that morning run the day after. But, I’m going to encourage you to count something else…blessings!

That may sound cliché, but let me tell you energetically why it’s important. Your brain takes in as many as 30 images a second (60 when you’re stressed). It then filters through them and selects what is brought into the conscious mind.

When you are thinking negative thoughts and thinking about what’s wrong in your life, you actually cause the reticular activation system in your brain to filter the negative things into your conscious mind and you notice even more.

However, if you focus on the great things around you and your possibilities, you see and feel more positive and bring more of that to you. What you appreciate, appreciates.

It may seem impossible with the negative news around you and you may not have the power to control your conditions, but you always have the power to choose your thoughts.

So this Thanksgiving week, whether you are spending it alone or with family, take time to count your many blessings. Where your attention goes, energy flows. As you focus on the great things in your life, more will come to you.

Also, make sure you don’t forget your FREE party gift. You can’t have a great party without free stuff and since we can’t toast champagne, we decided to do the next best thing…give away free prizes.
