Find a Workout Partner
Having a partner to hold you accountable, but you may have the opportunity to form great relationships. When two people meet up on a regular basis and work out their problems together, there is potential for great bonds to be formed. Is your significant other very supportive of your health and fitness goals? If they aren’t already your workout partner, this is great one-on-one time with each other. Even a walk around the neighborhood in the evening with your mate can get you on the right road to great and glowing good health and it is a perfect time to visit with each other without other distractions.
Form New Habits
If you begin keeping a food journal you will find very quickly where your meals are weighted in high calories and fats. Once you determine where your problem foods are, it is time to change your diet. But don’t do it all at once, as we all know that any drastic changes quite often don’t work. Keep in mind that diet is not really a bad word. The word diet as defined by Dictionary.com means food and drink considered in terms of its qualities, composition, and its effects on health. In other words, your diet is simply what you eat. Change one thing at a time, get comfortable with that and then move on from there. Breakfast is a good place to start as it sets the tone for the day.
Do What You Enjoy
Exercising for fitness and health does not mean that you have to be miserable. If you enjoy biking, walking, swimming, jogging or playing in the park with your children or dog – just get moving. The American College of Sports Medicine says 30 minutes of moderate to intense activity 5 days a week or 20 minutes of high intensity activity three days a week is all it takes to get and keep your body healthy. Add strength training twice a week and you will fall in love with how good you look and feel!
